Elections

As per the City of Myrtle Creek Charter at the general election occurring in 1994 and every fourth year thereafter Councilors for Position 2 and Position 4 shall be elected. At the general election occurring in 1996 and every fourth year thereafter, Position 1, Position 3, and Position 5 shall be elected. 

November 2022 Election
On the November 8, 2022 ballot will be the position of Mayor and Council positions 2 and 4.  The filing period for candidates to be named on the ballot begins on August 10, 2022 and must be completed by 4:00 p.m. on August 30, 2022. It is highly recommended that anyone interest in filing for a City Council position or for Mayor read through the Candidate Manual, a link is provided below.

To run for office begin by completing Form SEL 101 (Candidate Filing Form) and the top portion of for form SEL 121 (Candidate Signature Sheet) and submitting them into the City Recorder for verification. Once both forms have been submitted you will receive notice from the City Recorder to begin collecting signatures. The City Charter requires 25 signatures to be placed on the ballot. Once signatures have been gathered, submit the signature sheets with form SEL 338 (Petition Submission) to the City Recorder. All forms are linked below for your convenience. 

When filing for candidacy the 25 signatures must be gathered then verified by the County Elections Department prior to the August 30th filing deadline. To account for any signatures that may not be valid it is suggested that you gather additional signatures to help ensure that you have the 25 needed.
