Water Distribution

The Public Works Services Department maintains and operates the water distribution system which consists of:

  • Two 1 MG reservoirs and one 0.5 MG reservoir.
  • 22 miles of water mains
  • 254 valves
  • 152 fire hydrants
  • Over 1400 customer service connections
  • Over 6 miles of water service lines.

Water Treatment Plants

The City relies on two developed surface water sources to supply its water needs.  Sources are the South Umpqua River and the Springbrook springs, which consist of 8 springs and the Harrison-Young Canyon.  Treatment facilities include a membrane filtration plant confluence of the South Umpqua River and Myrtle Creek constructed in 2014 with a rated capacity of 2.0 MGD  (million gallon per day),  and a conventional filtration plant in the Springbrook area constructed in 1997 with a rated capacity of 0.5 MGD.
